Our Story

What began in 2014 as the Sea Cliff Farmers Market, with a single vendor in the courtyard of St. Luke’s Church, has grown into Deep Roots Farmers Market, a beloved North Shore community tradition and a two-time Long Island Choice Awards winner for No. 1 Farmers Market on Long Island in 2021 and 2022.

Deep Roots was founded by the late Amy Peters with a clear purpose: to bring fresh, local food to the community while supporting the small farms, makers, food producers, and artisans who help sustain it. Her vision was rooted in local agriculture, healthy living, small business, and meaningful community connection.

​

Today, the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce proudly carries that vision forward. In accordance with Amy’s wishes, the Chamber has assumed operation of the Saturday market as her successor and remains committed to preserving the goals, standards, and spirit of the market she built. The market is now known as Deep Roots Farmers Market–Glen Cove.

The 2026 season began on Saturday, May 30, and runs every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM through November 7.

 

This season also marks an important new chapter for the market as it settles into its new home at Village Square in downtown Glen Cove. The move brings Deep Roots into a more central, walkable location, placing the market closer to local shops, restaurants, parking, and the everyday activity of the downtown business district.

At Deep Roots, shoppers will find a carefully curated mix of local produce, baked goods, seafood, honey, prepared foods, specialty items, artisan products, small businesses, community organizations, and more. FMNP and WIC are accepted.

​

We warmly welcome back the returning vendors whose dedication and quality products have helped make the market such a valued community destination, while also inviting new vendors to become part of our growing market family.

 

Vendor applications are welcome throughout the season, and we are always looking for food producers, artisans, specialty vendors, local businesses, and start-ups offering something unique for our patrons.

Deep Roots Farmers Market–Glen Cove is held rain or shine every Saturday during the season at Village Square, except Saturday, October 31, when the market will return to Garvies Point Park for a special Halloween event.

Market Mission

Deep Roots Farmers Market’s mission is to support local farms, makers and businesses and to bring fresh and locally made and grown products to our community. We aim to foster entrepreneurship, to enhance the well being of the community and create a “sense of place.”

Our goal is to:

  • Provide an opportunity for local farmers, fishers, food producers, and artisans to sell their wares directly to consumers.

  • Build community by providing a healthy way to gather and connect on a regular basis.

  • Educate patrons with practical ways to maintain the connection with their food sources

~ Deep Roots Farmers Market Glen Cove - 2025 Season ~

Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that the Chamber has assumed operation of Deep Roots Farmers Market at Garvies Point in Glen Cove beginning on Saturday, May 31, 2025. In accordance with the wishes of late market founder Amy Peters, the Glen Cove Chamber will run the Saturday morning market as her successor.

​

The Chamber is committed to preserving the goals and spirit of the market as Amy intended. The market will be now known as Deep Roots Farmers Market-Glen Cove.

​

The 23-week 2025 season will kick off with a grand ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 31, 2025, in its familiar location, the parking lot next to the Beacon at 100 Garvies Point Rd. The Market has operated there since June 2021. Everyone is invited & encouraged to participate in the event.

​

The market will be in this location, rain or shine, on Saturdays during the season form 9 am to-1 pm except for Saturday, June 7th when the market will move to Glen Cove Village Square to accommodate the annual Greek Festival. Following that event, the Deep Roots Farmers Market Glen Cove will return to Garvies Point until Saturday, November 1, the last market day for 2025.

Deep Roots Farmers Market-Glen Cove is the place to be on Saturday mornings! Come down with your family and enjoy connecting with the glorious outdoors at the market many vendors have said is their favorite location! Feel the warm air and gentle breezes at our waterfront locale, gaze at Hempstead Harbor, and enjoy live music.

Remember that this is a “Rain or Shine” event!
